Well, it looks like the 1058 errors have stopped.

I'm not sure I've posted this error before but on the PAWDC server (the
DC without all of the DNS zones), I am receiving the error and message

I probably waited about 30 minutes before re-promoting it.

This is going to be a stupid question.....what do you mean "Take
10.250.16.15 out of the IP configuration for now"? Do you mean remove it
from being a DNS server??

There are some knowledgebase articles on how to delete the root zone.
First is to use the DNS mmc if you can.
If not, have a look in Active Directory. Open ADUC, Select View | Advanced

As you suggested, I removed 216.242.0.3 from the DNS configuration on DC2
and added our ISP's DNS server to the Forwarders tab in the DNS Management
Console. I realize that multihoming ...
