Hello,

I'm trying to find out why my computer keeps waking up from sleep.
Unfortunately I've not been able to track this down. I leave the house
around 9am, don't get back home till 8pm, and the computer has turned on
while I've been at work. My fiancee can't ever remember to check right
when she gets home to see if it's on then or not, so I have no other
time frame to deal with at the moment except for what happened today.
Specs are as follows...

Windows Vista Ultimate x64
Q6600 CPU
4gb (2x2gb) Corsair Memory
Asus Striker Extreme M/B
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 PSU
WD 750gb HDD
Lite-On DVD Drive (qty 2)
Nvidia 8800GTX
Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum

I'm using built in network port linked into a Linksys WR320N Router &
Time Warner Cable Modem


Here's what I can remember I've done so far...

BIOS - anything related to wake on ANYTHING has been disabled. USB,
LAN, Ring, Alarm (motherboard has an alarm clock feature)...it's all
disabled.

Tasks - I'm not 100% on this...but I think everything that would
possibly wake it up, has been disabled.

Windows Update - Never has been, and still isn't set to wake up & check
on it's own.

Media Center - Has not been, and still isn't set to update on it's own.

Device Manager - All network Wake On Lan's have been disabled.

The computer will not wake up from being "Shut Down", but it will wake
up from sleep on it's own. I went so far as to unplug EVERYTHING
connected to it except the power cable, and it still woke up, so it's
not external.

Today 8/8, I happened to be home and noticed around 8pm, it was on
again, thankfully I had just put it into sleep around 6 or 6:30. There
has to be something set somewhere that it waking it up. I've searched
and searched and found a lot of things to try, none of which has helped
except one...

I found a post stating to capture a log file on Power Events...so here
is what I captured today...please help me...I'm at a loss as to what it
would be.

give any info (it doesn't say anything useful on my computer).

Ok, I have watched it the last 2 days, and at roughly 8pm, it turns on.

Ok...powercfg -lastwake said 0...probably because I "shut down" my
computer before I left the house...it's the only way it will stay off.

Now...keep in mind...I DID unplug everything except power one day, and
it still woke up, so I'm guessing it's a software issue rather then
hardware...but I do realize that even though something may not be
plugged into a port doesn't mean it can't wake up (as in a faulty port
or something).

What do you guys think?

Try unplugging the mouse if you haven't already..

In Task Schedule, its standard view list last tasks run. Does this show
anything interesting?

Hello...

Nothing is listed in Task Scheduler that would be at the same time my
machine woke up, there are a couple that started up about 12 minutes
after, but nothing right around 8pm.

As far as the mouse, again...I unpluged everything except power...and
it still started up. So yes, it has been unpluged.
