What are the tricks to remove USB flash drives when

all progams you were using on them have been closed for several minutes

they still tell you 'some program is accessing.

etc, etc.

Eject seems to fail, but then you can't open the drive - get 'Insert
drive into G:'

I guess you could rt click the taskbar and choose Task
Manager>Applications. If any there try ending them. See what happens.

If the USB drive is optimized for quick removal in Device manager,
just unplug it. USB drives usually have this setting by default.

If you don't trust this method, I have found that left clicking the
system tray USB icon, and the following pop-up, usually succeeds
when the right click route doesn't. USB hard drives seem to be
more difficult, but if you wait for a few minutes after you last access
it, the device stop usually works.

I use Unlocker Assistant v1.8.7.. It will show you what applications are
still using the drive and give you the option of releasing the handles
in the event a program actually terminated but did not release its
handle on the drive.
