I have and exiting 2000 mixed mode domain just added a
2003
server
into the
mix and promoted it to DC The AD transfer happened but I
am
not
sure
everything is operating correctly I am under the
impression
that
as it
standas at this point that my AD (long with my AD
integrated
DNS)
should be
replicating between these to DC's ?? If so It appears to
NOT
be
happening
How canI verify this ? I did create a dummy user ( me
hehehe)
in
the AD
on the new DC..... but havent observed the new user over
in
my
2000
server
AD not sure if I am under the correct assumptions that I
should
see
these changes reflected between the 2 in a very quick
fashion?
for
that matter before I decommision the old existing w2k DC
I
should
see the AD correclty replicating between the 2 ?
thanks

In the mean time on DC2 in the DNS event log I see this
Event Type: Information
Event Source: DNS
Event Category: None
Event ID: 113
Date: 9/18/2008
Time: 9:36:25 AM
User: N/A
Computer: ML570G3DC
Description:
The DNS server could not signal the service "NAT". The error was 1168. There
may be interoperability problems between the DNS service and this service.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
I paste this into google and read up on some of the listings I get and one
talks about disabling the firewall and ICS service.....so I did this and then
I did a repadmin /showrepl DC1 ( I did this from DC2 )
I get the first failure notice (RPC server not available postdated) I
then get some success statements...I go to DC1 and see the new users I
created over on DC2 they have been replicates over onto DC1
I also had added DC1 to DC2 host file

Hello Dan,
That replication works connect needs at first a correct
DNS
configuration, so please post an unedited ipconfig /all
form
both
servers that we can verify this. Also post the complete
output's
from
the tools Paul Bergson pointed you to.

I have and exiting 2000 mixed mode domain just added a
2003
server
into the
mix and promoted it to DC The AD transfer happened
but I
am
not
sure
everything is operating correctly I am under the
impression
that
as it
standas at this point that my AD (long with my AD
integrated
DNS)
should be
replicating between these to DC's ?? If so It appears
to
NOT
be
happening
How canI verify this ? I did create a dummy user ( me
hehehe)
in
the AD
on the new DC..... but havent observed the new user
