I have Vista 64 Ultimate running and was doing great for about three
months now it is really slow. I open windows mail now and it takes a good
while even when I hit create mail it is slow. I did check out the event
viewer and do see on error and one critical message. How do I fix/ resolve
these messages to see if this fixes my issue of a slow pc?

Thanks

It's extremely difficult to answer your question, since you told us
nothing about the error messages. Please quote them verbatim.

Also note that the most common reason for a computer slowing down
these days is infection by one or more malware programs. What
anti-virus and anti-spyware programs do you run, and are they kept up
to date?

Sorry about the information was unsure what was needed. What information do
you need from the errors, general tab info or details tab? Let me know if
there are any other questions.

The anti Virus program is Norton 360 - it is up to date, spyware is spybot
S&D and it is up to date also.

Thanks

Unfortunately, Norton is the *worst* available anti-virus. The best is
NOD32 (which isn't free), and slightly behind it is the free Avast.

Spybot S&D isn't terrible, but it's not the best, either. However none
of these programs is perfect, and running any single one isn't good
enough. I recommend running at least two or three.

Try running the free MalwareBytes, and see if that finds any problems.

Ok, I just downloaded the Malwarebytesanti-malware program and updated it and
then did a scan. It found only two items.

fake.Beep.sys - File - c:\windows\system32\drivers\beep.sys
it is blank under other - no action taken

Hijack.Display.Properties - Registry Data - HKey_Local.....
other says Bad:1 Good:0 - No action taken

What should I do with these two? Remove both?

I do not want to screw up anything so I am asking.

Thanks

Ok, I just downloaded the Malwarebytesanti-malware program and updated it and
then did a scan. It found only two items.

fake.Beep.sys - File - c:\windows\system32\drivers\beep.sys
it is blank under other - no action taken

Hijack.Display.Properties - Registry Data - HKey_Local.....
other says Bad:1 Good:0 - No action taken

What should I do with these two? Remove both?

I do not want to screw up anything so I am asking.

Thanks

Sorry about the information was unsure what was needed. What information do
you need from the errors, general tab info or details tab? Let me know if
there are any other questions.

The details of all the messages you refer to ("do see on error and one
critical message"). Please quote them verbatim.

The anti Virus program is Norton 360 - it is up to date,

Unfortunately, Norton is the *worst* available anti-virus. The best is
NOD32 (which isn't free), and slightly behind it is the free Avast.

spyware is spybot
S&D and it is up to date also.

Spybot S&D isn't terrible, but it's not the best, either. However none
of these programs is perfect, and running any single one isn't good
enough. I recommend running at least two or three.

Try running the free MalwareBytes, and see if that finds any problems.

It's extremely difficult to answer your question, since you told us
nothing about the error messages. Please quote them verbatim.

Also note that the most common reason for a computer slowing down
these days is infection by one or more malware programs. What
anti-virus and anti-spyware programs do you run, and are they kept up
to date?
