We have three domain controllers and the servers (windows 2000 adv) have
more than 100 sites and all of them have host, mx, cname etc records.. One
of the DNS server's hardware is p3 and 512 MByte ram etc. I would like to
change it but the DNS server was the Global Catalog server so I changed it
with one other DNS server. I don't want to depromote the server for some
case. I backup the server's system state file and restored it an another
brand new server. When I open and plug in the new server to our network I
got some error which are below. Anyway I attached the old server to out
network and everything works fine.

I would like to know
Have ever tried the upgrade scenario before?
If the server was demote (dcpromo) the AD and the all primary settings
would be passed one of the other DNS server. (schema master, PDC,RIP etc)?
