I have a two-part question from things we have been struggling with lately.
We have an enterprise level ClickOnce .NET 3.5 application that has
permissions controlled through Azman which in turn is linked to AD groups.
Everything works great for XP and below (we don't have Vista, so we can't
test that).

Recently, we have upgraded one of our development machines to Windows 7 to
test the waters a little more. However, we are experiencing two problems:

1) From a development standpoint - Whenever we deploy the application from
the Windows 7 machine, the VS 2008 solution deploys the Windows 7 version of
azroles.dll (version 6.x) as opposed to the XP version (5.x). Even though we
have the 5.x version copied to the project, paths specified, in the manifest,
etc..., we cannot get it to deploy with this lower version. Somehow either
VS or Windows 7 is replacing it with the newer version. This causes the
application to be unrunable on all XP and below machines.

2) From a user standpoint - Once we compile the project down and deploy it
with our Windows XP computers, the application runs fine on all Windows 7 as
well as XP... except for one minor problem: permissions. In Azman, for
example, we have two AD groups placed in a Azman role (each AD group with
many users contained within). Whenever executing the application with XP,
permissions are correct and the application runs great. When executing with
a Windows 7 system, permissions are non-existent. The only way to get the
permissions to work between the application and Azman, is to explicitly add
the users one at a time to the Azman roles alongside the AD groups. Any
users in an AD role only will experience these permission issues (which
ultimately restricts visibility restriction).

Any ideas? I think the two are related. Thanks in advance.

If you talk about the permissions did you disable UAC on Windows 7 during
testing?
