No, not unless your current server is running 64 bit. Server 2008R2, "ONLY",
runs in 64 bit mode. Making the change over... should... be preceded by
acquiring 64 bit drivers for printers, etc.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/appcompat.aspx
You will need to reinstall all software. R2 will format the disk/partition
before loading. In simple, the move from 32 bit to 64 bit will be a
migration, not a somewhat simpler upgrade.

Hello John,
As already mentioned, for an inplace upgrade you must have 2008 64bit version
installed. And because you are posting in the AD newsgroup i assume you have
a DC. What you can do is to add the 2008 R2 to the domain on a new computer,
this will work after schema upgrade etc.

Hello John,
Yes, you can do it with 2008 64bit. Make sure to have a backup before starting
in case something fails.

Thanks for all the info.
Do you know it's free upgrade or I need to get Windows R2 licenses before
upgrade?
We do have Windows 2008 volume licensing.
Thanks.
